A New Thanksgiving Tradition

After wondering for several years if it would be worthwhile to deep fry the Thanksgiving turkey, Nathan finally decided to give it a try. I don't blame him for his hesitation. I know how much pressure there is on the person in charge of the turkey! It is the centerpiece of the Thanksgiving meal. Plus, deep frying turkey has been known to cause fires and we didn't want to end up having to call 9-1-1!!

Nathan watched Alton Brown's Good Eats Turkey episode several times in which Brown suggests setting up a rope and pulley system to lower the turkey into the oil. He also had other suggestions on how to do this process safely. So off to Home Depot Nathan went to get all the hardware necessary to set up the fry station.

After getting all set up outside, Nathan went out armed with his fire extinguisher, just in case, and set off to fry us a tasty bird.

One hour later we cut the turkey, which ended up being the best flavored and moistest turkey ever! It was cooked perfectly and thankfully the fire extinguisher was not needed! Nathan is now the designated turkey cooker for all future Thanksgivings!!
