A Tale of Two Pinks
Things are moving along on our attic rennovation. Not moving as fast as we'd like, but at least going in a forward direction for the time being. Since we started talking about SJ's new room to her she's requested it be a pink room. According to Benjamin Moore there are about 100 different kinds of pink. We settled on one called Sweet 16 Pink. Sounds innocent enough, right? Well the morning after the painters put up the first coat I let out a gasp when I walked in to her room. It looked more like Pepto pink! It was so bright and bold and I just didn't know how I'd live with it. So we quickly took a trip to the local paint store and bought 2 new cans of a lighter pink, apologized to the painters, and now feel much better about SJs room. She didn't seem to care about the lighter color. She's simply tickled pink about her whole new room :)
(p.s. the dark band of pink at the bottom of the wall is the original color.)

I can see the second pink is so much better...the first one is outrageous! Good save!
I haven't seen any of the colors we picked on the walls yet (and probably won't until moving day), but hopefully they won't be too dark. We don't have any pinks, but we did pick an "ocean blue" type color (with a flower name) and a cheesy mural with an ocean theme for the kids' room. I know they'll love it. I'm a little worried about how much I'll like it...
Paint can be so weird that way. It seems like ours has always been *lighter* than we expected. I'l have to be careful painting rooms in our new place...
And yes, the second pink is much better.
I was thinking, Hilary, that you wouldn't need to paint the new place. It's hard to tell from pictures, though. Our place really needed a coat of paint. And new carpet. The old carpet was completely disgusting. (It's out the door Thursday!)
I just asked Kansas Dad how the colors in our house look and he says the yellow is lighter than we thought it would be (for our bedroom). The others look a bit darker, but still good. Nothing like that first pink.
Oh, my niece asked for a pink room as well, which she has. But she also wants a purple door. My sister is dragging her heels, but thinks she'll go ahead and paint it for her...just on the inside. Should we suggest that to SJ?
Let's not say anything about a purple door :)
Hilary, we do own a Benjamin Moore color fan deck you're welcome to borrow if you'd like for your new house. Hopefully we are done with painting for a while!
Yeah, that was some pink you all started out with.
