"What for use?"

SJ is very inquisitive these days. She always asks, "What for use?" when she wants to know the purpose of something. Last night she wanted to know what purpose the aluminum foil had. We told her it was to cover things up to keep them warm. She then proceeded to put it on her head and said, "Keep my head warm? A hat?!" Well.... :)

Sydney, where'd you learn that?

Like most little kids, SJ picks up on a lot of things. I wonder where she learns certain things. SJ most likely picks up her new words from her friends at school. All the more reason to make sure she is surrounded by good friends! Here is just a sampling of some of the things I know I didn't teach her:
"Spiderman"
"Halloween"
"Yummy, yummy in my tummy, tummy."
"Eeewwww...yucky...."
"That's Awesome!" - from Little Einsteins, actually
"Roast Beef" - said in response to "What does Gami like to eat?" SJ has in fact never tasted roast beef.
What have your kids said that suprised you since you know you didn't teach them?

Helpin' out

It's been a while since the last post - sorry - but things have been fairly busy here. It hasn't been all work, we've had some play, too. In fact two weekends ago we spent a nice morning with our friends the Stantons. SJ had a lot of fun at their local playground and really enjoyed pushing her friend, Simon, in the swing.

Girls' Day Out

Today SJ and I spent the day with her Gami and her Aunt Emily. Most of the day was spent at the Zoo. We had a nice picnic lunch (in the shade) and SJ even ate baby carrots for the first time. (Ate = chewed + swallowed! Formerly all her carrot trials were chewed and subsequently spit out. Her pediatrician Aunt Emily did say it can take a toddler up to 7 times to try a food before they actually like it. I guess this was lucky #7!) We spent a lot of time watching the camels which we learned don't store water in their humps, but fat. And SJ got to chase the peacock. After a nice nap at home SJ and all of us went to Dunkin Donuts and the playground. Her Papi met up with us later and SJ enjoyed a great story time with him as he used funny voices which made SJ squeal with delight.

My Best Bubbles!

SJ loves bubbles. However, she always seems to get very messy while handling the bubble jar. Soap dripping over her hands, all over the bottle, all over everywhere. You other parents know what it's like, right?! SJ also likes to pour things. Yesterday she purposefully poured out all the bubble soap right onto the driveway. Hmmm.... Thankfully a jar of respectable bubbles only costs about 50 cents so its not a huge deal. But, it is still messy.

While shopping at a favorite store yesterday I meandered through the toy aisle. They had a pretty big selection of bubble toys. As I perused I came across one that said "Spill proof." It, of course, caught my eye. It had a little cup you poured the bubble juice in then scewed on the top, which was kind of egg shapped. A little wand stuck out the top - this one had Dora on it. I thought this was a perfect solution for SJ. Then I checked the price - $3.99! Woah! Thankfully it was on sale and I had a coupon so it only cost me about $1.50. A good investment I thought. When SJ tried the new bubbles at home she loved them. No mess, no spills. She was able to run and jump while holding the container! The wand even had a very small hole through which to blow. At first I thought this rather odd, but then realized that it's perfect for little kids who are just learning to blow since it's much easier to make small bubbles.

So SJ was happy blowing bubbles and I was happy she didn't have to come in the house covered with slippery bubble juice. A win-win!

My Diner Dining Experience

"Yeah, I'll have a coffee, 2 eggs - scrambled, and some pancakes."

Happy Birthday Gretchen!

This morning SJ and I took our friend Gretchen out to breakfast to celebrate her birthday. We ate at this little diner in Somerville. The food was excellent. We both got the "super" breakfast because we couldn't narrow down all the great choices. Needless to say, about 1/2 the food was left on the plate. It was a tremendous amount of food!

My Favorite Farm Animal

Has anyone seen Sydney lately?
